101 in 1001: Go to the zoo

I had completely forgotten #16 on my 101 was  “go to the zoo”.  That can be checked off as of June 19th when I & my family met TheArtisticBiker & his family at the zoo. 

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the zoo.  I also forgot how fun it was to let the 4-year-old take the lead on where we’d go & what we’d see!  Hippos were first on the list, as that’s Girl2′s favorite!  I did a quick sketch of one lounging in the pond area outside, looking directly down on it.  It didn’t look much like a hippo so earlier today I used some watercolor crayons on it and it looks much better. …. Well maybe not.

Last time I was at the zoo, they were redoing the environment for the bears, so the zoo was sans bears for the longest time. They’re back!  Well, I saw a Grizzly, I didn’t see any other bears but I freaked when I saw this sign:

I absolutely love otters!  I’ve got to work on drawing them!

So anytime TheArtisticBiker & his family want to meet up at the zoo, I’m game.  But maybe waiting until fall when it’s not 97 deg outside would be good!
